On August 19, 2010, 21 teams consisting of more than 70 volunteers spread out across our community with a vision of “Feeding South Kitsap.” With the outpouring support from the community, we accomplished what we set out to do. In just two hours, we collected 3,008 pounds of food four South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank.
As Adali Stevenson once said, “A hungry man is not a free man”. Our small actions, when joined together, created remarkable results. Hunger is a crippling force within our community. However, we were presented with a choice to stand united and alienate hunger, one child, one senior citizen, one family at a time and on August 19, we stood together in this effort of Feeding South Kitsap. Feeding South Kitsap is an annual event held every summer and is sponsored by Phase 5 Designs and the Jesus Loves Project.
